Public service vacancy circular
Overview
This Circular, which lists open positions and employment in Public Service agencies, is released every week, with the exception of December.
The Department of Public Service and Administration issued the Circular, however the Department is not in charge of the advertising’ content.
The appropriate advertising department should be contacted with any questions regarding an advertisement.
- Candidate instructions
The department in which the opening or vacancies exist(s) must receive new applications on form Z83 with complete details about the applicants’ training, credentials, competences, expertise, and experience (on a separate page if necessary or a CV).
In their applications, candidates need to include the reference number for the position.
If an applicant needs more information about a position that has been posted, they should contact the department that has the opening.

You should not contact the Department of Public Service and Administration in order to obtain such information.
Applications must be sent to the appropriate advertising departments by the respective closing dates, if at all possible.
- Departmental directions
It is required that all employees be made aware of the contents of this circular.
Employees who have been declared in excess must be made aware of the posted positions. Prospective applicants from the surplus group need to be helped to promptly apply for open positions and, if necessary, show up for interviews.
The Employment Equity Act of 1998’s sections 15 (affirmative action measures) and 20 (employment equity plan) shall be followed in cases where positions have been designated in order to promote representativeness.
Postings advertising such positions ought clearly indicate that the goal of filling them is to advance representativeness and that candidates whose appointment or transfer will advance representativeness will be given priority.
Candidates must be evaluated and chosen in compliance with the applicable relevant measures.
