Opportunities for Paramedic Learners in South Africa Paramedics: Opportunities for Learning.

In South Africa A lot of young people want to work as paramedics.

However, a lot of people are unaware of the prerequisites, the many training alternatives, and how to access them.

Providing patients with emergency medical care in a non-hospital setting is the primary responsibility of paramedics.

This indicates that the patient is vital wherever they are and is not in a medical facility. This could occur on the street, down an embankment, or at the patient’s home or place of employment.

When paramedics arrive on the scene, they tend to the patient and stabilize them before driving them in an ambulance to a medical facility.

Within the emergency medical system (EMS), paramedics with training in rescue medicine also offer emergency medical rescue services.

Medical rescue includes the use of “jaws of life” to free victims of motor vehicle accidents and rope rescue methods to save lives in the mountains.

The demands placed on paramedics can be demanding and stressful, it is however a rewarding profession which is developing. Being a paramedic is not a “job” but a calling.
