Job Description

The General Workers will be assigned to different waste management tasks, including street sweeping and waste disposal, ensuring that public spaces remain clean and safe.

Their duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Sweeping streets, pavements, and other public areas to maintain cleanliness
  • Removing litter, weeds, and debris from roadsides and communal spaces
  • Loading and offloading waste collection tools and equipment
  • Ensuring proper waste disposal and adherence to municipal waste management protocols
  • Cleaning and maintaining waste collection tools to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Assisting in emergencies or special waste disposal tasks as required

Ideal Candidate

The municipality is looking for dedicated individuals who are willing to work in physically demanding conditions and contribute to the overall cleanliness of the city.

The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  • Minimum Educational Qualification: Primary education
  • Physical Fitness: Must be in good health and able-bodied to perform manual labor
  • Flexibility: Willing to work outside normal hours, during emergencies, and in extreme weather conditions
  • Health Compliance: Must pass a medical examination before employment

Role Responsibilities

The General Workers will have the following key responsibilities

  • Maintaining cleanliness of public streets, parks, and communal areas
  • Assisting in the removal of refuse and hazardous waste disposal
  • Ensuring that waste collection tools and equipment are handled safely and maintained
  • Adhering to municipal waste management regulations and procedures
  • Reporting any hazardous materials or conditions to supervisors for appropriate action
  • Assisting senior waste management staff in various operations as required
